چکیده

Hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanoparticles synthesized via microwave irradiation. Polypyrrole (PPy)/HAp nanocomposite was obtained using electropolymerization on nitinol (Ni) titanium (Ti) substrates. Fourier transform infrared was employed to characterize the nanocomposite formation. Electrochemical properties of the nanocomposite were investigated using polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in simulated body fluid (SBF, 37!0.1 8C). It was concluded that the NiTi specimen coated with PPy/HAp nanocomposite, has higher corrosion resistance than the NiTi coatedwith pure PPy in the SBF; however, NiTi was better than both coated NiTi. EIS results confirmed corrosion properties. Also, EIS was used to predict the morphology of the coatings. It predicted fine and compact morphology of the nanocomposite that was confirmed using scanning electron microscopy.

Characterization and Corrosion Behavior of Hydroxyapatite- Coated Titanium Substrates Prepared Through Laser Induced Liquid Deposition Technique

Titanium and titanium alloys are often used in orthopedic surgery and dentistry because of their especial characteristics such as biocompatibility, mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance. However, their bio- inertness is the most serious drawback for biomedical applications. Therefore, a bioactive coating like hydroxyapatite (HA) is coated on their surface. In this regard, in the prese...

Effect of coating time on the corrosion behavior of ceramic coatings containing hydroxyapatite nanoparticles by plasma electrolytic oxidation method on AZ31 Mg alloy in simulated body fluid

In this study, the effect of coating time on the microstructure and corrosion behavior of AZ31 Mg alloy coated by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) method has been investigated. For this purpose, phosphate-based electrolyte containing hydroxyapatite nanoparticles was used at different times of 5, 10 and 15 minutes. The surface properties and chemical composition of the coatings were investiga...

Influence of aging temperature on phase transformation and mechanical behavior of NiTi thin films deposited by magnetron sputtering technique

In this study, NiTi thin films were deposited on the glass and NaCl substrates by means of magnetron sputtering method. The influence of aging temperature, over the range 300-500 oC, on phase transformation and mechanical properties of the sputtered NiTi thin films were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and nano-indentation assay, respectively. The DSC curves showed that the ag...

Enhancement of bioactivity of titanium carbonitride nanocomposite thin films on steels with biosynthesized hydroxyapatite

Thin films of titanium carbonitride (TiCN) were fabricated by DC magnetron sputtering on medical grade steel. The biocompatibility of the coating was further enhanced by growing hydroxyapatite crystals over the TiCN-coated substrates using biologically activated ammonia from synthetic urine. The coatings were characterized using X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning elec...
